Physical examinations are tailored to meet the requirements of the position. Employers are encouraged to provide a job description that outlines the essential functions of the position to assist the provider in assessing the ability of the individual to safely perform the tasks. The physical exam incorporates the following:
  • Patient History
  • Vital Statistics (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse)
  • Physical Examinations
  • Vision Screen
  • Urinalysis
In addition to the standard physical examination, employers may select from baseline screens that serve as a reference against which future tests are compared when monitoring potential worksite exposures. Some common baseline screens include:
  • Audiogram
  • Pulmonary Function Test
  • PPD (Tuberculosis screening skin test)
  • Hepatitis B vaccine/booster (when there is a potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens)
  • Blood tests (for potential exposure to chemicals, heavy metals, etc.)
Employers requiring heavy lifting, frequent bending, lifting, carrying, climbing, and other strenuous physical tasks, may add a functional work capability screen to the basic physical exam.

Return To Work Evaluations
Return to Work Evaluations are tailored to meet the specific needs of both the employer and the employee. Employers are encouraged to provide a job description that outlines the essential functions of the position to assist the provider in assessing the ability of the individual to safely return to performing the tasks.

Respirator Evaluations
Employees required to have medical clearance to wear a respirator will first complete the OSHA medical questionnaire. A medical provider will review that questionnaire to determine if that employee is able to wear a respirator or if further evaluation is necessary.
